Volunteers clear litter in historic Crown Hill neighborhood

By WTHR Staff

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) People in Crown Hill are getting to work cleaning up their historic neighborhood.

More than a dozen people showed up early Tuesday morning at New Life Worship Church near Boulevard and 34th Street on the near-north side to pick up trash in the area.

They filled countless garage bags with litter that was on side of the road and sidewalks.

“It instills that sense of pride, Crown Hill as you can see at New Life Worship Center, they are some anchor institutions in this area,” said Deputy Mayor David Hampton. “When they work together, it not only shows the pride but it also shows the unity that our city really maintains.”

Hampton said he hopes people will take part in similar clean ups happening in neighborhoods across the city.
