ST. GEORGE — Mark Hudgens, a Hurricane resident, said short-term rentals are ruining his neighborhood’s peace and safety.
“Shortly after I moved in, within a week or so, I noticed that the traffic going down my street, a residential street with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour, was a little shocking,” Hudgens told St. George News. “The traffic seems to be mostly speeding well over the speed limit and it’s pretty busy. There are no sidewalks, and it’s just a little paved road, a two-lane road.”
Hudgens said three people have almost been hit by a car this year. On the other side of his neighborhood in the Adobe Hills, three short-term rentals are causing the problems, he said, adding that some of the properties are advertising they can host up to 60 people.
