The woman is now charged in what officials say was a scheme to disappear with the 7-year-old child.

An intense search was launched on July 24 after family members reported that Dawn Walker, 48, had not been seen for two days. Police investigated possible foul play, as well as a scenario in which mother and son were swept away in the river. Her family and community members held events to keep the disappearance in the public eye.
