Almost a dozen people gathered on the front steps of Florida’s Historic Capitol Monday morning to urge lawmakers to oppose a bill that would put regulation of vacation rentals solely in the hands of the state.
Specifically, the legislation (SB 1128, HB 1011) would preempt local governments from inspecting or otherwise regulating such rental units.
Ernie Bach of the Florida Silver Haired Legislature, a statewide senior citizen organization, has been fighting similar legislation for the last three years.
